Happy Tuesday #Jontourage, Welcome back to the “Classy Gent Chronicles”, where staying classy is the only way to be. In this week’s edition, read about the journey to changing my hair. As I have shared before, I wore the same hairstyle for 27 years. For the longest time, I wondered what life what be like outside of that haircut but change was scary. I was terrified by the idea. With some prayer and convincing from my barber, I grew to love what I saw. My hair change started out as a fade and from there, someone made the recommendation to try waves. I have always admired the waves look but it seems difficult to maintain and easy to mess up. Instead, my barber recommended curls. I said, “why not?” Instantly I run to Youtube and I am watching every curly hair tutorial I can find. At first, I forgot to take into consideration all the different hair textures so I am under the impression if I watch these videos and follow all of the steps, my hair will look just like theirs. Haha… looking back on my old thought process, that was pretty funny. My haircut budget decreased significantly but my hair product budget tremendously jumped up. At one point, my bathroom was filled with all the gels, sprays, creams, and conditioners. I went through multiple different hair care products to find the perfect products for me. After a while, I got the hang of it. Not only did I get way more compliments, I felt a lot better. Looking back, it’s just hair so I can always go back to my old style if I want to… but I probably won’t anytime soon. Moral of the Story: Happiness begins at the end of your comfort zone. Don’t be afraid of what can go wrong from trying... be afraid of what can go wrong from staying the same. Embrace new things. Remember, in order to live out your dreams, you have to think it, feel it, live it! Until next time, stay classy...
