Happy Tuesday #Jontourage,

Welcome back to the “Classy Gent Chronicles”, where staying classy is the only way to be.  Let's jump right into it....

So for my best friend’s birthday back in April, we switched it up a bit.  We went to a place called the Escape Room.  Long story short, the Escape Room is a mystery you must solve. You will be given one hour to solve the riddles and escape the room.  The riddles are things related to various aspects of life.  My friends and I have done it five times and our current record is 3-2 (you have no idea how much our original record of 1-2 frustrated us). The interesting thing about the Escape Room is that every room is completely different. One room we did was about solving a kidnapping, another involved being stuck on a tropical island, and one was finding someone in a casino.  It becomes a race against time. I have truly never seen an hour go so fast.  Without giving away, any secrets about the rooms, I can tell you what will happen to the dynamic of you and your group once you enter the Escape Room:
Picture
1.       At least one person will panic about time.  I was that person in my group (I am not ashamed to admit it).  My God, I have never seen an hour go so fast.  Even when I took the SAT exam, an hour didn’t even go that fast.  I was the one reminding everyone not to drag their feet because every second counted.
2.       At least one person in the group will blame someone else in the group, especially if you all lose the challenge.  It is a common feeling to believe in a group task, the outcome could be different had someone else not dropped the ball in a certain area
3.       At least one person will overthink a clue.  Unfortunately everything in the Escape Room isn’t designed to help you.  Some things are red-herrings and are purposely put there to throw you off.
4.       At least one person in your group will take charge.  If you want to win, that pretty much HAS to happen.  Everyone cannot be an Indian and everyone certainly cannot be a chief.
The Escape Room is a great thing to teach you about group dynamics.
5. Winning feels like all your favorite foods being served to you at the same time.  Losing feels like your tv, game systems, cell phone, and laptop falling in the ocean all at the same time and you have no insurance policy on any of the items.
Above all else, the Escape Rooms are a really fun time.  It is a great way to understand the strengths of your friends and “escape” (see what I did there) your normal Friday night plans.

Moral of the story:  The Escape Room will help you realize you are smarter than you think and how important teamwork truly is.  I can’t wait for my next go round so our record can become 4-2.  If it becomes 3-3, it’s going to be a problem.  What is your favorite thing to do when you go out with friends?

Remember, in order to live out your dreams, you have to think it, feel it, live it!  Until next time, stay classy...

I have a place that is both a haunted house and escape room. It's suppose to add scares to the rooms so going 3-3 might be a real possibility lol
