This picture above is a message that I got from my student and it broke my heart. I am so tired! On top of that, I am sad, angry, afraid, and most importantly as I mentioned before, tired. Not tired from an absence of sleep, but tired of everything going on in our society. The police brutality, the racism, and all things keeping us down must stop! I am sorry to the families of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and everyone else not mentioned who lost their life due to racism. As a black man in America, I feel so drained. This week, my productivity has been off, my attitude has been off, my everything has been off. Several non-black people have reached out expressing their love and solidarity, plus I have also seen messages around social media wondering how allies can help us. There is truly never a list that will cover every scenario but there is a lot that you can do. God put it in my spirit to make this video about how allies can support black people during these times and most importantly, after these times. Before you watch, I want to state a couple of things:

AuthorJonathan C. Harris is no stranger to leadership, hard work, or success. At the age of ten years old, he earned the right to be a guest weatherman for a day on Fox 5 DC News. He has already received over 100 honors and awards including Forty Under 40 for Prince George’s County, MD, TEDx Talk speaker, American College Personnel Association (ACPA) Outstanding Men’s Program, high school Valedictorian and the Kiwanis Club Citizenship Award. Raised in Fort Washington, Maryland, he has served in leadership positions his entire life, from being the manager of the school store in elementary school to the president of the Homelessness Awareness Club in middle school to the president of the National Honor Society in high school.
